Acrylic Painting Classes
Painting is putting colours from your heart onto paper. Painting is playing with colour. Painting is dancing on paper. It is so easy to let our inner critic stand over us as we paint, and chortle at our feeble results. Even before the paint dries, the critic judges it inferior. Many people don't even try to paint!
But WE CAN ALL PAINT!, perhaps not professionally (unless we want to) but think of all that you do that may not be "professional", cooking, photography, gardening.....
You can express parts of yourself in painting that come from nowhere else. There is an interior part of you that has no words, and dreams in colour.
Beginners acrylic painting class is an 8 week course designed for the absolute beginner. We start with the very basics of the colour wheel and colour mixing and move on to different ways of putting paint onto paper. We do this through still life studies, landscape and abstract design. We play with paint and explore possibilities, the emphasis is on having fun! In the last 3 weeks students move on from practise pieces on paper to complete a work on canvas.
The 8 week course is held at Yurara Art Society at Thornlands on a Tuesday evening from 6.30-9pm. The cost is $184 and this includes all paints, paper, brushes etc. Students will be required to bring their own canvas in week 6.
Next term starts on 13th October, class is limited to 8 students so book in early!
Beginners workshop is a condensed version of the 8 week course, covering all the same areas and taking students up to the point of being ready to begin a work on canvas. The cost is $120 for the weekend, including all materials, morning tea and lunch. Next workshop is November 14/15th, and is held at Jensart Studio, Redland Bay.
Intermediate class is for students who are familiar with the basic techniques of acrylic painting. In this class we explore mixed media, texture, still life and abstract design, and I introduce pastels if students wish to try these out. Students will complete several works on canvas during this course.
Below are some examples of previous beginners class students' work.
